What is Hip-Hop? Hip-Hop is a lifestyle with its own language Dress code, music and mind set that continues to evolve Hip-Hop is the culture from which rap music evolves Rap is simply poetry on a beat A form of self expression embedded deep within ancient African culture And oral tradition....Know what I'm saying?.....Check....
Hip-Hop, born in the Bronx in the early seventies Where DJ Kool Herc had invented the melodies Before Clark Kent and Coke LaRock Became the first MCs to pick up a mic and rock da block To pave the way for pioneers like Afrika Bambaata Melle Mel, Grandmaster Flash, Grand Master Caz Before the Sugar Hill Gang released rappers delight And Kurtis Blow hit the charts bringing Hip-Hop to light Before the Beastie, Ice T, Run DMC L.L Cool J, Roxanne and Kool Moe Dee Before Doug E. Fresh and em got introduced to you Before Eric B and Rakim got paid in full When KRS One and Scot were the Boogie Down Productions "Criminal Minded", niggaz need no introduction Salt-n-Pepa pushed it and we knew it won't stop This is the life we're living, this is what we call Hip-Hop
Chorus:
Hip-Hop is here to stay and will never die No disrespect fe Nas but me tell you no lie Demma rape the culture that which I cant deny But they cant bring us down no matter how unno try Everybody tryna water down the way demma rap And the media be feeding us nothing but crap Pay attention, listen to this African chap It's time to put real Hip-Hop back on the map
I remember Big Daddy Kane, with all em jewelries Back then when Slick Rick used to tell us stories Public Enemy came and it was all political Kool G. Rap blew and always kept it lyrical Straight Outta Compton came NWA I used to listen to the Geto Boys everyday It was crazy, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Monie Love I recall how they repped the ladies Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff B-Real of Cypress Hill, Naughty by Nature, A Tribe Called Quest The Wu-Tang Clan, Pete Rock and CL Smooth De La Soul, MC Hammer and the 2 Live Crew 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, Nas, House of Pain Snoop Dogg, Biggie, Scarface and Dr. Dre Bone Thugs and Harmony, can't forget Kris Kross This is the life we're living; this is what we call Hip-Hop
Chorus:
It's really a shame, what we got left of the game Since Big and Pac, everybody's sounding the same The major record labels need to take most of the blame Cos it's no longer about the love its bout the money and fame But I'mma give it up for Jay-Z and Eminem Outkast, E-40, Red and Method Man Master P., Wyclef and Lauryl Hill Lil Kim, Missy, Foxxy Brown, E-V-E X to the Z, Ja Rule and Ludacris DMX, Mobb Deep, Puff and Jadakiss Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Talib Kweli Kanye West, Too Short, The Roots, Nelly The Pharcyde, Dead Prez and Common Sense Lil Wayne, Mase, T.I and 50 Cents These are just few of the cats still making it pop This is the life we're living, this is what we call Hip-Hop

Some of the names in the last verse coulda been replaced by people like Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz, AOTP, Jehst, Chester P, M9, Akala, Klashekoff, Diabolic etc etc, there's just so much to name. Dope track though.
Take out Master P. Xzibit, and Ja Rule. Jadakiss is wishy washy, too short if you really wanna get into detail he really isnt HIP HOP, but he held down the fort on the West Coast. Kanye West is also wishy washy (he lacks lyrical skill) but u know hes a great producer. As for Lil Wayne, he only turned hip hop because he received so many complaints and decided to give hip hop a try. U know he never really appreciated hip hop. 50 Cent used 2 b good. He watered down his lyrics like Jay-Z chose to.
lil wayne has talent, people just get confused because of his autotune shit and the people he collabs with. hes the samuel l jackson of hip hop, if the price is right he'll do it. I wouldn't say he's in the untalented category like Soulja Boy and all those faggots
He has a few lines I think isn't so bad, but man i hear him on the radio too much and he sounds the same. Soulja Boy is gay, talk too much shit on Xbox but won't accept the challenges.
But, his rhymes blow! I might be able to stand them if he didn't hide behind the autotune, sure he's not soulja boy but he's the second worst damn thing!
