The box was was transmitted at 0019hrs for a structure fire in the 900 block of Maple Street in Center City. Engines 4, 9, 6, Truck 2, Engine 10 (R.I.T.) and Battalion 2 (Lanshe) responded on the box.
When companies arrived at 0022hrs they found fire in a rear room of a grocery store at 952 Hamilton Street. With multiple apartments on the upper floors, crews made quick searches that came up negative. B/C 2 struck the second alarm, bringing in Engines 14, 11 and Air 1. 2 handlines were stretched. The fire was put under control at 0059hrs. Engine 13 was brought in for fire watch.
I love that the either the cylinders on the glass doors were pulled and entry gained through-the-lock (or the doors were unlocked).
Through-the-lock is the way to gain access through this type of door. 3 glass doors opened, all three intact. No hose lines dragged over glass shards and no cross bar to worry about.
Well done....very professional!
