Chromakeying high-tech green screen footage may seem like magic, but getting it right is a decidedly lo-tech affair. Eric Franks explains the technology behind the magic to help you get good results.

  • It's actually annoying how he keeps his eyes to the left of the camera all the time. Read up your text and flirt the camera damn it!

  • Some decent information for basics but its dead obvious that your just reading the info. You can do that but just make it look like your talking to someone next to the camera. The looking to your left and waving your hands at the camera is really annoying.

  • Dude learn a bit instead of reading cards... Psssss. At least learn to read

  • That fact that he's looking to his left (the viewer's right) at his script, is more annoying than the music loop. He should use one of those teleprompters that are placed in front of the camera lens.

  • Well presented technical info of a difficult subject. But that song loop is sooo annoying.

  • Pretty good information, but as you said, "Like so many things, real solutions [to our video problems] are often low-tech." A low-tech solution to the obvious 'problem' in this video is to locate the teleprompter or cue cards closer to the camera. Another would be to become so familiar with the material that reading it was unnecessary. But hey, anyone can blow it and learn from it. I think you did great.

  • How can i use a green screen effect in my video editing software?

I am using Adobe Premier Pro CS3 and would like to know how to edit it.

  • no he's just reading key cards that are 10 feet away from the camera

  • I think he's just high on green

  • I agree, it looks rather strange that he is clearly reading off a card.

Usually you put your cue cards above or under the camera.

  • Keylight for After effects is brilliant. Another awesome video!
