UPDATE: Referendum 71 news!

Ruby rambles a bit about some good news! The names of the people who signed the petition to get Referendum 71 put on the ballot have been ruled to be a part of public record and therefore must be available for public viewing! The names are being released! WOOT!

@Sarahon06 Isn't it nifty? They pointedly made the law have absolutely nothing to do with marriage at all, and yet you've still got these 'values' 'traditional' people dragging their asses into our state to try to claim that Referendum 71 would (protect marriage and) protect children! It was made patently clear that this had nothing to do with 'traditional' marriages and they WERE STILL HAVING A FIT. It's not the word, it's not the morals of it, they just want to be better than us.

@thethegreenmachine It's a really nice stepping stone -- and the word is our governor IS in favor of actual marriage equality, too, so that's another journey to set off on, soon, for us.

And thank you! I was trying to pick a good folder to share stuff from that I wouldn't have to pick too many photos out of -- since it seems like nekkid chicks and boobies are rampant in all my other folders, somehow XD And yep, all backed up on my trusty external drive!

One of the arguments put forth by advocates of repealing the "Everything But Marriage" law was that courts in your state would mandate same-sex marriage on grounds that there's no legal distinction between domestic partnership and marriage. According to them, such a lawsuit would begin immediately after the law's effective date. Two years later, that scenario has not come to pass.

Actually it occurs to me that if you really want to sort the cheated from the bigots, just start a class-action law suit for defamation and see who gets on-board to say they were lied to before signing the petition. That way you can ensure that this sort of thing is a LOT less likely to happen in the future just with the THREAT of getting sued into next month.
