Cllr Eric Byrne of the Labour Party is standing for election in Dublin South-Central. Your vote can give a voice to those who most need it in the Dáil.
Eric's final video of the campaign sees up outside Lidl on Thomas Street discussing the issue of low wages which seriously affects our constituency. Young people and women are hit particularly hard by unscrupulous employers in the area, but Eric's campaign for a Living Wage will see the City Council only work with companies who pay a living wage to their workers. We can spread this campaign across Ireland by giving Eric a platform in the Dáil this Thursday.
I guess the people in question are now agreeing to take a paycut or reduce their hours as they are thankful for a job?

Why are you complaining about exploitation of workers because of eu legislation and yet you are calling for us to hand over alot of are ability to self government by supporting a yes vote on lisbon, it does'nt make sense

Not that I'm a fan of Lidl but the level 1 store assistants START on €10.70 an hour Eric with premium rates (+25%) paid before 6am and after 10pm and +50% for Sunday and +100% for Bank Holidays! They get a pay rise every year and many who are there 2 or 3 years take home a very decent wage indeed, albeit a well deserved wage as the work is hard. Horses for courses but you'd be better advised filming outside some of the more traditional retailers who do pay minimum wage, unions and all!
