Footage shot at the Sunday market in Bac Ha, Northern Vietnam in April 2010. It's an amazing place; a real market where food (i.e. livestock) is picked by the customer and - in many cases - killed right in front of them. Some parts of the market are quite distressing for a westerner (I won't be uploading the footage of the pigs and dogs, for example) and this clip of the fish is about as 'mild' as it gets...

If we all have to kill our own meat and fish for food perharps most of us would have turned vegetarian.

Thanks for the interesting footage of the Bac Ha Sunday market; I was there 23 May 2010 and shot video, but didn't make it to the fish section, as I was concentrating on the live water buffalo, horse, pig and dog section for my YouTube footage. As far as the fish whacking, that's the way they do it at the local Asian markets and Chinese seafood restaurants that have the live tanks here in Northern California (my wife gets a bit sad / guilty when we get the recently-live / very fresh stuff.)
