The Mountain Valley Old Timers playing on a truck waiting for the parade to start in Dauphin Manitoba at the 2009 Canada's National Ukrainian Festival. The song is called Pete's Special Polka.
That's John Tomashewsky from Gilbert Plains Manitoba playing the dulcimer (cymbaly), and behind him from left to right from Dauphin Manitoba are Elmer Zalischuk on rhythm guitar, Alvin Pentlichuk on fiddle and Victor Belinsky on bass guitar, and from Minkcreek Manitoba is Sam Hucal on rhythm guitar.

This reminds me of growing up in Dauphin in the early 70's and how the Ukrainian Festival USED to be! The Main Street Parade was always such a treat. My Dad played drums with John Sawchuk, Johnny Moroz, Red Wagner, Jim Orbanowich and others, under the name "THE CKDM HARMONY BOYS!" I still have a tape recorded off radio from their Tuesday afternoon broadcasts!

It's similiar to the Native American-Metis violin jig music but Native Americans don't use the hammered dulcimer in their violin dance jigs.
