Tutorial: iPhone Tethering with Handy Light

NOTICE: This app has since been removed from the App Store.

This is a tutorial for connecting any iPhone to a computer wirelessly and sharing its internet connection with that computer. Works on the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4. No jailbreak needed.


Instructions:

Download app.
Create network.
Connect to network on iPhone.
Change network settings to "Static" on iPhone.
Change IP address to: 13.37.13.37
Change Subnet Mask to: 255.255.255.0
Change the SOCKS Proxy on the computer.
Port: 1337
Run Handy Light app.
Color combination: B Y R
Tap top right corner.
Open Safari on computer.

IP Address: 13.37.13.37
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

If you're having issues and you have followed the instructions perfectly then try changing both IP addresses entered to 13.37.13.36. It worked for one user and it could work for you!

Any. It shares the connection with the computer itself. Although there could be some that won't work with the SOCKS proxy by chance.

No it will not. You need 3G to give off internet. There would be no point in using an iPod or iPad(WiFi model) since you need to connect to WiFi in the first place to get internet for that device. You need to have a device that can hook up to 3G in order to give WiFi off.

Are you the developer of this App? Genius if you are.

What we need is a way to get custom apps onto iDevices (through iTunes itself), then we will rule, that means we can force Cydia through iTunes, meaning iTunes jailbreaks your device.
