looks like they started way farther up than that... maybe Dardanelle or Kennedy Meadows. Pinecrest is way farther west-- even farther than Strawberry. I just took Sonora Pass today from 395, so memory should serve pretty well there, especially since the slow Ram that wouldn't let me pass pulled off to go to the lake.
I wish I had a better angle and longer time for my video, but I did what I could.
