I have a blind dog and it would be hard for anyone to tell. Dogs do not rely on sight the way humans do and they adjust much better to the loss of eyesight.
He follows the ball by the sound it makes rolling through the grass. And by smell (spit and other less pleasant bodily fluid). He has since had his other eye removed (severe) glaucoma and acts the same as you see here. It was somewhat creepy at first to find that he stares (without eyes) straight at you when you talk to him, but we've gotten used to it.
how do you know when a dog is blind or has lost his sight ?

This dog is visually impaired.
