You could do your turns simulatenously and thus look on your opponent's screen but when you did nothing/finished your move, your part of the screen "shut down" so you could wait for your friend to make the turn.

Was Battle Isle a true hotseat game? If I remember rightly, player 1 would specify moves while player 2 specified attacks, and then it would switch over, so both players were always in front of the screen. (Although moving usually took longer.)

Best game idea of its time!

4:00 for that classic first stage music... totally epic!

Best game music ever 20 year ago.. and still rocks!!!

Loved those days...
So long ago, so clear.

Dang, I wonder if "CDMaster32" uses libMikMod... I just converted these songs to .wav in MikMod and they sound almost exactly the same. MikMod uses nice stereo panning for Amiga mods that don't have real pan data.

@Puschit1 I and my friend still play Warlords, the first one occasionally. The best Warlords game imo.

Mark Vera's remix is great.

Loved this game, too! And the soundtrack as well! (in this vid, the real track starts at the 3 minute mark).
Hotseat games, those were the days. Lasersquad, Battle Isle, Dark Legions, Warlords II, Empire Deluxe. If I had the old hardware and some pals who'd like to join I could still waste entire weekends on these games, no matter how old they are.
Loved this game! Twenty years gone, me and my mate spent hours on it, leaving the room while the other took a turn. Then with your last move you would get round the corner only to be sat on a frag grenade set to go off at the end of your turn! Sterner Regnix was one of them?? 34 now, argh!
