British scientists are using a pioneering form of cloning to help save the northern white rhino from the brink of extinction. There are only nine of the animals in captivity and even fewer out in the wild.

Sky's Rona Dougall reports.

  • It's June 3rd 2011, this video was uploaded in April 2008. My guess is that this cloning experiment has failed or else it would have succeeded by now. The latest news today? There are only 4 Northern White Rhinos in captivity and none in the wild since the 5th died in a Czech zoo.

They had a chance to save this animal 10 years ago in Kenya by surrounding the camp with machine gun armed guards to kill poachers. Rare megafauna need to be saved by ruthlessly exterminating poachers.

  • @sandintheshadows765 One has a London accent and the other has a Geordie accent lol

  • i hope soo!

  • they stick to very differnet habitats that they have different gentic dna from one another

  • what's the difference between the northen and southern white rhino

  • Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done.

  • But if they do that wouldnt that mean theres alot of cross breed rhino's

  • if it means saving them. then yes
