They originated from the Austronesian Malay ethnicity which was originally from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines. Some people originated from the southern most tip of China and Taiwan. I get called Japanese, Eskimo, Filipino, & all other Asian types. I was told once that anyone who could claim Native or First person heritage, had a direct link to the people who crossed the Bering Straits.

Some of my folks are from BC Coast Salish, some are also Maroon, so there could be an asian type. Interesting, a testament to what happened when no one stuck damned borders in our faces neh?
