The limiting factor for efficiency of wheat farms has always seemed to be the replanting process. Until now, this has consisted of carefully navigating your farm without stepping on tilled soil while clicking on every single square individually. I have developed a wheat farm which allows you to do this semi-automatically. All you need to do is hold down the mouse button and occasionally switch item stacks (the latter can be eliminated with the addition of a dispenser to refill you). The system also works for fertilizing the wheat.

In addition to this, I've managed to maintain the water-harvesting functionality despite the need for cart tracks at the same height as the plants and an unobstructed view of said plants. Feedback would be awesome!

  • Get Optimine.

  • @tjb0607 I recently got optifog - aren't they similar? I had the impression that they wouldn't mix well/need to be mixed. Thanks for the recommendation, though!

  • seriously dude, look into fraps!

  • @Gabbos I did! Fraps slows down my laptop like crazy. I think the insane amount of pressure plates was contributing to the lagginess here. I use a very small recording program that usually works quite well. Sorry for the poor quality!

  • Are the pressure plates there to prevent the water from overflowing?

  • @ctskifreaks Yeah - you need to protect the rails from the water, but the farmland needs to be visible from inside the cart. Half-blocks are too tall, so you have to use pressure plates.

  • @MattLikesMusic27 I actually had a button originally, but its active zone is very small. That means that you have to click, then quickly move your mouse to a specific spot to avoid messing up your work. With the lever, it's large enough that you can use parts of it as a reference for aiming your cursor. This makes getting to the back row of crops much easier and more reliable. It's certainly a trade off, haha.

  • To plant 100% make it go slower..

  • Another tip is GET A MACRO PROGRAM. You can mass spam right click and better increase your odds of never missing or getting carpel tunnel trying haha :)

  • this is the best design ive seen yet! ...too bad i already made a different otherwise i would make this one. I dont have the patience for two lol!

  • I wanna try to build it myself but first I would need to know how tall and how wide

  • Can you upload this please.

  • @thegnome54 gotcha

  • @thegnome54 I was thinking a button too. Couldn't you press the button, adjust to where you need to be while riding and then plant, since you're doing a pass up and convering the same blocks on the way down, you'll plant in the blocks you missed while adjusting your mouse cursor. or could put a button where your lever is and put a lever to the left to use as a guide to where your mouse cursor needs to be to plant. very nice idea.

  • IT'S SUPER EFFICIENT!!!
