Dating - Overprotective Fathers

As young men we are often threatened with violence by the fathers of our girlfriends as a warning against our prospective misconduct, for no other reason than because we are the boyfriend. Consider: if our own parents had threatened our girlfriends with violence, and at times perpetrated that violence upon them, would society find it acceptable? Why are so many young men injured and killed by overprotective fathers for trivial and non-violent offenses? And how does this tradition of chivalry jive with the Feminist idea that in the traditional family women were oppressed by men, rather than protected by them?

Listening to this makes me too angry nowadays. If a prospective girlfriend's father threatens me, I'll call him out on it with every intention of returning violence if acted upon by violence. I hope you would do the same.

@Gogonostop I didn't say I'd threaten him. If he implied, in any way, that his intention was to cause bodily harm to me or kill me for any reason, I would directly ask him, "Are you threatening me?"

Depending on his response (back down or man up) I would act accordingly.

Violent, aggressive, overprotective fathers aren't the only men with weapons.

When a lady friend was yesterday laughing about the Bobbitt attack where his penis was cut off, I asked if it would be funny if a woman's breasts were cut off? She said no, but "she must have felt really pushed over the edge by him" as she continued giggling. These white knights (weaklings) gladly embrace the stereotype in a failed attempt to come across as tough.

They don't seem to realize that they might come across an armed boyfriend who will pull the trigger instinctively if under immediate physical threat.

By the way, a girlfriend who doesn't stand up for you when her dad threatens to cut off your dick is most likely not worth your time.

I think these men may be horny about their own daughters and get jealous because another guy is dating them and making love with their consent. They'd like to be in their place. Horrible, but it's what sounds to me, because a father, a real one, should be happy if a guy treat her daughter well .

Ironically, it is my 'Daddy, Save Me!" g/f who chose to drink too much and attempt to bash my head open over a window sill for being upset that her and her wimmins cult friends also drank too much, as usual, and barfed liberally all over my bed.

Any so called "Christian" who says the things that these men say are not Christians at all. They are vile and wicked hypocrites that God will judge. If they think about killing a young man because his daughters feelings got hurt he is judged already by the TEN COMMANDMENTS. I would tell these men to read the Commandments- they will change your life- God is watching- God will judge- God is no respecter of persons- do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

My father never gave me this speech, he is a very dignified person. He did imply that he would speak with my high school boyfriend if he didn't like the way things were going. All that did was make us keep a lower profile.

Then there is always the concern that if your dad did do something to some guy that your father could end up going to jail.

This whole threatening the boyfriend thing is way off target and does not help in any way shape or form. I think it's rather crude.
