Serbia didn't have the long-range S-200 - only S-125 and Kub for medium range. And that 'using the same route for days' thing is nothing more than a lame excuse....some even said the shotdown was a lucky shot which is laughable.

Pure luck? Hm, but S-200 it is not similar AK-47 and Serbs didn't shoot turns "pure luck" at that point where "pure luck" slowly flied F-117 :)))
Oh, "pure luck" probably to apply to any incident. It as belief in God.
And I didn't mention model of SAM ;)

I know about this incident kinda well, it was a pure luck on their side and a great oversight on the american side. Using same routes over days, with same timing. No wonder they got into ambush.
And afaik, it was S-200, if I'm not mistaken.

to long readiness time.to big to slow and not protected Vehicles. when NATO is aware of this they send in a F22 or several Tomahawks with shrapnel submunition bombs and an area of 2-4 sq miles is dead. what you need this days is an highly mobile-fast -protected system on many little platforms which can shoot while moving. 4-6 antennas separated from the missiles 6-10 middle-range 4 long-range and many dozens short-range. this battalion is only a good target.
