Tom Hill and Alan Keegan demonstrate a Saifa Bunkai Oyo (Bunkai Oyo means 'understanding of application) from the end sequence of Saifa Kata. Generally about six variations on each move are practised - this is only one version.

  • A bit elaborate... is that a neck breaking move your doing at the end before you puch your partner away?

  • @gojuryudan Hi yes its a neck break, Siafa end move has many, many, applications this is is just one possibility. regards tom

  • @TOMHILLSVISION Yes, i see the neck braking moves, apparently its quite hard to break someones neck by just twisting it especially if they are resisting, I just wondered if it was some kind of crank to inflict pain maybe...........

  • @gojuryudan Any technique is hard or almost impossible to do against a resisting opponent. Combat always has points of relaxation - this is the weak area for attack. I do Chiropractic type techniques (old name Kuatsu) in my other role as alternative healer. I can assure you that a neck break is all too easy in the right circumstances.

Remenber a Haito has been used first to the Trachea rendering the opponent semi concious. And yes even this can be resisted as pointed out earlier. Regards Tom

  • Good Bunkai. Those threesome kata performances don't do you justice.

  • @Riesbuck Well the Katas are my students not me, but I take full and total responsability for thier Kata - I taught them. I happen to be proud of them also. But they have trained with lots of other teachers. Mike is a 5th Dan Shukukai also.

  • @TOMHILLSVISION Can see other influences in their karate apart from Goju Ryu, but no matter, I'm not a purist, whatever works will do.
