I don't think it was favoritism. It is simple, actually. Her routine was out of a 10. She is technically almost perfect. What could they take from her on execution? It was just a bad code of points and the Romanian team was smart choosing the routines. The others could do the same if they want too.

I like Gina too, but I think that Teza could have medalled over her too. Her routine was way harder, arguably the most original of the final and she nailed it!

...tied for gold *on floor* with Kui Yuan Yuan in '96.

No, she also won vault in '94 and '96 and floor in '95. She tied for gold with Kui Yuan Yuan in '96.

I correct myself. I just watched the floor final where Gina won Gold on floor exercises. So, I my altered question is: were the two Gold's at these Championships the only time Gina won individual Gold medals?
-
Was this Gina's only individual Gold medal at a World Championships? So many times at World's and Olympics she finished with a Silver or Bronze. I think this beam was the only Gold she ever won.

I still think Meng Fei was underscored here. Her tumbling was very clean and her choreography was great.

Furnon should have at least gotten bronze.
Again, I don't dislike Gogean, but I really don't see how she medalled over Khorkina and Kui (even with Kui's minor bobbles). Hell, I think Furnon should have medalled over Gina. One of the worst examples of gifting and favoritism in the sport.

This is why I like the new scoring system, Kui would have probably won because simple, boring routines are not rewarded!
