Austrian Michael Haneke's "The White Ribbon," a chilling study of malice in a German village on the eve of World War I, scooped the Palme d'Or top prize at the Cannes film festival Sunday. Haneke beat off strong competition from a score of films by heavyweights such as Quentin Tarantino and Jane Campion to walk away with the award at the end of the world's top cinema showcase. The Austrian's previous films include "The Piano Teacher," "Code Unknown" and "Hidden," which have surgically probed the sick underbelly of the modern middle classes

  • and there is no one jew in this movie, silly idiot

  • oh, sorry, this wasn't for a3th3r, just a keyboard mistake, it was for the real asshole! youtube is very messy - sorry again

  • ah, just another pill of history you should know; italian facsism, who inspired Hitler - for his admission - was born in 1919 and got the power in 1922... facsism and nazism was born a long time before the WWII, only an idiot could state such a stupid thing. thanks god your so retard you can enjoy eating, sleepin and shitting also with this cerebral lack.

  • accordin to me this could be taught as a kind of cinematographci version of mosse's ensay "the origin of the culture of the thidr reich" that explain exactly this..

  • Nazis existed already: they showed themselves to the world before the 2nd world war, sure, but they were born during the period that film takes place. That's one of the great things in that movie, giving an explaination to why a human can turn to a "monster". The kind of movie that makes you smarter than you were before you saw it!

  • lol.... You're pretty stupid. This movie is about a village PRIOR to World War 1. It isn't even about the first world war, let alone Nazis who didn't exist until the second world war.

rofl. Always hilarious to see blatantly racist morons voicing their totally uninformed opinions as though they mattered to anyone. Thank God people like you are in the minority these days.

  • it looks like a really good film..

  • Where can i buy the movie, r they selling the movie already!!???

  • my god! you must be so unhappy. i'm sorry! i hope you find some light in your life.
