This is a cool public park near my house that I take my dog walking. It used to be all coal dumps with ponds. You can fish here; I'm just not so sure you'd want to keep the fish. As a matter of fact, I caught my first fish in this pond- a large pickerell with a nice mouthful of teeth, while fishing with my brother when I was a teen! Anyways, there are a few ponds located throughout this park with lots of toads and when Butterball jumps in, the toads all jump for cover! There's also some Canadian geese and mallard ducks there from time to time. There's always an abundance of wildlife to see- from deer to wild turkey, geese, birds of prey, etc. This park has fields and woods with a paved trail through it. It also has two soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a few baseball fields. I use it mostly for walking. It's so peaceful and serene here, yet not many people take advantage of this gem. I do:)

  • What a perfect place for Butterball! Wow, how beautiful and rustic... I would be there all the time, especially if there's not too many people there. I'll have to send you some more Canadian geese (I'm just over the border) LOL

  • @75capriceconvertible I think there's more Canadian geese here than in Canada!! They're beautiful- just don't get too close when their young ones are near unless you feel like running. It is very rustic and just so expansive. I spend a good hour or more there and don't come close to covering all the grounds. I like having it to myself, but sometimes it's scary. The last time I was there I thought I saw a bear in the woods; it was a huge log! I have to start packing heat! LOL

  • Were Is This,

  • @rovan26 Oh, I've been chased by a goose, it's not pretty LOL they start out by making this hissing noise, like a cat! Then you better make tracks or you'll get nipped, been there, done that! And as for bears, you can never be too careful. If I were you I would pack at least bear spray, if not heat... you don't want you or Butterball to get in a bear scrap!!
