Is the En Passant legal if the pawn only moves 1 space to be beside an opposing pawn?
i.e. Exactly like how you explained, but the attacking white pawn is one space forward and the black pawn only moves one space.

I didn't understand... the 'an passan ' (I don't know how to spell it) move would make me take the pawn if I do that or is just a move?

@7Mushrooms7 En passant gives a player the option to take an opponent's pawn on the move directly after an opponent's pawn has moved two spaces and landed next to one of his own pawns. In doing so, he removes the pawn from the square it landed on and moves his own pawn onto the square that the opponent's pawn skipped over. If the player does not want to take the pawn en passant, then he does not have to, but cannot take it at a later point. Hope this isn't too convoluted to understand :)
