Oh what an absolute treasure!Never thought I'd ever get to see it.Loved the series and read all the books but thought this was lost to the mists of time.Rumpole is just the same as he was through the whole series.Reminds me of the time I found a cd twenty years ago in an obscure music shop that I thought I would never find.The title"Eldorado".Truly I have struck gold a second time.Thank you for posting this, you don't know how wonderful it made me feel.

I always thought it was, For unlawful carnal knowledge. Perhaps they thought people to clever. Still, they put it in, though Im not certain at all about the egg part? I suspect I will have to listen again.

5,02: "Cut his teeth on the Rex vs Magwitch" ? Magwitch is the name of the escaped convict in Dickens' "Great Expectations" - I suppose it was chosen here to give the impression that Rumpole had been around since the year dot - somewhat of an an exaggeration. The Rumpole stories by John Mortimer, recently deceased, may currently be heard online on BBC Radio (click on Drama), starring Timothy West.This production is also very amusing and cleverly constructed.
