On this episode of Wide Open Throttle, Jessi Lang reports from the Tesla facility on the day of the long-awaited rollout of the Model S, the world's first premium all-electric sedan and the car on which the company's future now depends. Then, Motor Trend Technical Director Frank Markus gets exclusive one-on-one time with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Chief Designer Franz Von Holzhausen as he tours the Tesla factory and finally gets behind the wheel of the car that Tesla is hoping will galvanize the world's transition from internal combustion engines to electric mobility.
Wide Open Throttle appears every Thursday on the new Motor Trend channel.

Most California electricity comes from water power plus some natural gas. No coal was used to power this testdrive

I hope they can compensate reduced prices by more sales. This car is all-electric, if battery replacement stations become reality, reducing price (of a simplified version) to around 40k will win them a lot of business.
I also noticed in Europe model S is more expensive: considering EUR/USD exchange rate, it is like 10% more expensive in Europe.

It seems impossibly, because they only focus on high price car consumers, the battery price will be to sensitive for low price car markets. if you really want to a e-vehicle, to see the BYD and lit motors.

I love the car. But it is a little too expensive for me. They should have attempted not to compromise price as well. Can you make a 150 Mile range for under 40 grand? That's something.

Gas was obsolete 100 years ago already but we were forced to stick with it for ''other reasons''. The issue is not what you like are not. The issue is what makes sense. And electric makes sense - the only technical issue remaining is the format of the battery.
If electric cars go mainstream you will still be free (and even free-er) to run around the suburban areas with your gas car as a hobby-car (I do not imagine you wishign to use your gas car in city jams).
