i feel that the american companies are trying only 2 things. copying the japanese, and going retro. like farah said, we need to go back to making the cutting edge cars of the future. Whether they are big, or small, they need to be american and they need to be reliable. my name is Micah, and i am 16. My dream, and reality, is to start my own american car company that will give us our faith in the auto business again, and will be unique.

The unions HAVE to go. It is an outdated system that has caused the quality of American cars to suffer for many, many, years. The big 3 want to keep the 'passion' that I feel MOST foreign makes have lost and implanted into the US minds (Priuis, Kia, etc...). However, with the unions always forcing the big 3 to fall to their knees, they will never be able to push ahead and promote that 'passion' which has been slowly going away from America's streets.

its very simple... You need to have someone that will tell the auto makers that they need to start to produce quality products even if it means the cost of the cars goes up. They also need someone that will say that the money must be repayed. If it is not then the companies will sink. I think the car companies will get kicked in the but and wake up to keep in business.

Based on this video I want these two running the car business. I agree on all issues.

more factory support for racing,
stop worring about cup holders,
apple iCar,
kill the UAW...nuff said.
I don't agree with you Farah on one of your points. Carmakers should continue recreating cars from the past. The new Mustang, the new Challenger, and the new Camaro are some of the best cars that the "Big Three" has to offer. Don't discourage them or you'll be left with nothing. And by the way, it's not as easy as you think to create a great looking car from scratch. I'm glad that at least we have those legendary cars from the 60's and 70's to get some inspiration from.

Of course it's not easy to design a new car from scratch, but other car companies have no problem doing it. For the most part the Japanese and European companies don't bother with retro remakes, they design new cars. Even the SLR Mclaren Stirling Moss, which was designed as tribute to the original race car, looks nothing like the original car, save for a couple small cues.
