Listen to the famous Filipina coloratura soprano Conching Rosal, the "Queen of Kundiman" of the 60's, as she interprets Maestro Jose Estella's classic Kundiman "Ang Maya" under the music supervision of Leopoldo Silos. The Tagalog lyrics of this Kundiman is by the poet Jose Corazon de Jesus. The audio is from an old vinyl phonograph recording.

Greetings from Texas! Perhaps no one can surpass Conching Rosal as the Philippines' greatest soprano. I wonder if someone can upload at least a short film, video, or any type of recordings of the arias she performed in the Philippine productions of Carmen, Madame Butterfly, or Aida during the sixties. It would surely be appreciated by opera lovers.

Conching Rosal is still the gold standard to this day. Nobody can sing Ang Maya this good. I hope that international divas can pick up on this Filipino aria and sing it themselves.

this song was first sang by Maria Carpena, the nightingale of zarzuela and the first Filipina recording artist...although Conching Rosal's version is very very nice I still wonder how Maria Carpena sang this song...
