  • Amazing bhajan.. I can understand the meaning and words clearly only due to your video as my mother tongue is not marathi.. I would like to share a story about Sant Eknath. Once on his way to worship Shiva, he saw a donkey dying of thirst. Passers by were carrying holy water for abhishekh. They ignored the poor beast. But Sant Eknath immediately gave the donkey the sacred water he was carrying for worshipping Lord Shiva. He saw God in all. Thanks for this video.

  • @raghavansupriya342 You story is correct with a little twist. According to the folklore, Sant Eknath was on a pilgrimage from Kashi to Rameshwar carrying Gangajal and gave that sacred water to a donkey who was dying of thirst., forgoing the good merit (punya) he would have had for depositing Ganges water in Rameshwar. Thank you.

  • Have been hearing and enjoying this abhang for a long time. Your translation, the images, and the contextual information enhance my appreciation immensely. In the fourth verse, do you know what specifically 'ऐसा गोपाळकाला होत असे' means? Is this connected to Krishna portrayed as dark? Am also wondering what the symbolism of Krishna being सावळा - घनश्याम etc. could be. Please enlighten!

  • @rekhasheorey I don't think it is in reference to dark color. As per my understanding it is offering to God "prasad". My impression was it is mixing together yogurt and puffed rice together. "kala" refers to mixing the ingredients together. But, I could be wrong ! :)

  • @SJisBack You are absolutely right. And thanks for all your videos of Marathi classics with subtitles. I keenly look forward to them :)

  • @rekhasheorey It is गोपाळकाला, not गोपालकाळा :) A yummy dish of poha+dahi+tadka. The word is used in the sense of 'offering to the divine'.. basically saying our senses and actions should be used as divine offerings, to manifest the glory of the creation... About Krishna.. =Krish+Na; Krish for 'all-attractive' and Na for 'spiritual bliss'.

But it also means 'dark' so he is thus depicted. Hope this helps :)

  • @rahulbhamre82

I just think an alternative xplanation might be in order! does it imply that WE are asked to percieve the lord through ALL different senses that HE becomes all pervasive! i just wonder whether it is CONTROL or PERCEPTION!

indriyas are GOD's gift but instead of Control may be perception is easier to achieve? just a thought!

Control is by Gyan or knowledge and becomes a fruit of tapasya1 Perception is just surrendering and may be easier for simpletons and can be called Bhakti?
