Lyrics:
The ink is black, the page is white
Together we learn to read and write, to read and write
A child is black, a child is white
The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight

And now a child can understand
This is the law of all the land, all the land

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night, it turns by night

And now at last we plainly see
The alphabet of liberty, liberty!

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
Together they grow to see the light, to see the light

Aah aah ..... - yeah yeah yeah - ev'rybody - see the light
This is the message - to all you people - peace and love
Got to shout it out - see the light - peace and love - hey yeah yeah
All around the world - we need peace - see the light ....

Live strong buddy...........ah yu dat Ragga ma boy....... you will live on in my heart regards from Mr Fatstuff

  • Good lord, brings tear to my eyes lol cheers

  • I always sing this at school without warning. When someone tells me to stop I accuse them of not supporting racial harmony.

  • warm milk in little bottles and a 5p bag of crisps and this song. My primary school years summed up :O) x

  • Ah school assembley...

Shame that liberals have got rid of prayers, hymes and songs like this for kids to sign at assembleys.

  • I SING THIS AT MY SCHOOL WELL I USED TO

  • @ljmkernow me stopsley school , my first taste of trojan,22 yrs army n still a old skin lol my best tune ,,

  • good reggae song.

  • @HowDareThey1970 The Spinners version is on You Tube - just search "Spinners black and white" and it's the first entry. There's a photo montage with it.

My parents took me to their concerts when I was young, and I'll never forget the sheer joy of singing along with a huge audience. So many voices raised in a (child-like) beautiful song.

  • @ironmadion55 beatles? no, i don't think they ever did. the familiar early 70s version u may be thinking of is three dog night.
