Is it safe to travel to the Philippines? Of course, however there are certain factors you have to consider.

The Philippines is a third world country and the reason for that is that there's no fourth world. There are no big problems here but please be aware.

if you really need your phone outside in the street be sure you can buy a very low price phone... like a $20 phone.. that will make you immune to snatcher... this people only snatch if you provoke them with you wealth...

Good advice mate, they are not violent but opportunists. Snatching is the biggest danger, they are very skillful and very quick. I always have two wallets and I always wear cargo pants. I keep my real wallet secure in the buttoned pocket on the side of the cargo pants. I have a second wallet in my back pocket with a little bit of walking around money. I use the second wallet for ordinary everyday things and when I need to top it up, I will go somewhere safe such as an international hotel etc.
