i'm probably gonna get a shitload of negative votes for this but i'll just go ahead and ask: What (in simple terms) exactly is a Mary Sue?

@MalusTheEvil A Mary Sue is a character (mostly female) that is completely perfect (not in the goody toe shoes way, but that may also apply) with little to no flaws, solves every problem, and most of all, gets the guys to chase her down like lost puppies.

Example: Becca the Hedgehog! She looks like a combination of Rouge and Blaze, runs faster than Sonic or Shadow, can beat ANYONE in hand to hand combat EASILY. She even gets the attention of Sonic, Shadow, AND Silver as they fight over her!

@DarkGuardian0 There's really nothing wrong with creating a "self insert," the problem lies in either the self insert being too perfect, or having a life so tragic, or certain flaws like clumsiness or unattractiveness (I'm going to refrain mentioning her) it's meant to gain sympathy from readers...

Yeah I never make my fan characters like that. They all have weaknesses and they aren't too beautiful and they certaintly don't live forever. XP

I hate Mary Sues like that.

@DemonicRemption OMG I just realized that maybe I should have included other major characteristics Sues tend to have. One of the most controversal would be if the Sue had more than 1 lover or 2 guys interested in her. I remember that after some browsing on deviantart and noticed how this Naruto/Inuyasha sue (who appears balantly like Kagome cosplaying as Sakura...) had a lot of boyfriends and even messed up the original Naruto storyline so she could be the star.

But OMG was that example you gave of a fan character painful! >.< I was practically squealing with glee when she got shot, now I want to seek out these bad fanfics I've heard much about...

@DemonicRemption I apologize for this sudden and late reply, but I recently added annotations, and decided to give you a shout out on that part. Ever since I read a poem about a self-insert character, I did realize that perhaps it's not such a bad thing afterall. I mean no one can be as worse as Bella Swan or Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way (from the infamous My Immortal fanfic) right?

It's funny that Silver is the same thing. This is the idea behind him:

"Okay I got a new character. A hedgehog named Silver FROM THE FUTURE with PSYCHIC POWERS. He's Blaze's best friend and has a DARK AND TRAGIC PAST because HIS HOME WAS DESTROYED. He goes back in time with my other OC Mephiles and Amy falls in love with him. Then they meet Sonic and he gets mad and then almost kills him but Amy stops him. Then he teams up with Shadow..."

Sonic Team:Fuck it. We're all getting fired, anyway.
