For centuries, in peace and in war, in prosperity and in adversity, Americans have paused at this time of year to gather with loved ones and give thanks for lifes blessings. This week, we carry on this distinctly American tradition. All across our country, folks are coming together to spend time with family, to catch up with old friends, to cook and enjoy a big dinner and maybe to watch a little football in between.

As always, we give thanks for the kindness of loved ones, for the joys of the previous year, and for the pride we feel in our communities and country. We keep in our thoughts and prayers the many families marking this Thanksgiving with an empty seat saved for a son or daughter, or husband or wife, stationed in harms way. And we say a special thanks for the sacrifices those men and women in uniform are making for our safety and freedom, and for all those Americans who enrich the lives of our communities through acts of kindness, generosity and service.

But as much as we all have to be thankful for, we also know that this year millions of Americans are facing very difficult economic times. Many have lost jobs in this recession the worst in generations. Many more are struggling to afford health care premiums and house payments, let alone to save for an education or retirement. Too many are wondering if the dream of a middle class life that American Dream is slipping away. Its the worry I hear from folks across the country; good, hard-working people doing the best they can for their families but fearing that their best just isnt good enough. These are not strangers. They are our family, our friends, and our neighbors. Their struggles must be our concern.

Thats why we passed the Recovery Act that cut taxes for 95 percent of working people and for small businesses and that extended unemployment benefits and health coverage for millions of Americans who lost their jobs in this turmoil. Thats why we are reforming the health care system so that middle-class families have ... Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • womblefree,

We have upper, middle and poor classes.

In America, we considerd the working class to be middle class. .

That was until, the Conservatives came to power with Reagan and Thatcher(UK).

Now in the US, we have the working poor, people who work at places like anti-union(worker) Wal Mart, America's largest single employer.

The profit and wealth stays at the top, that's the conservative agenda, to have only two classes. Upper and Working poor.

  • Wow you love Obama, and probably didn't even listen to the message?

What Thanksgiving message did he give? Are you kidding me, I forgot what he was talking about when he started drifting off....I mean serious, no one buys this crap anymore. Like Climategate now, everything is a fraud, everything...and you have Obama....speaking for about a min or so, then you have Bush who shows up in Iraq for Thanksgiving..i rest my case.

  • Why, don't you kiss my ass? with your fucking greetings!! we don't like you!! WHO? THE TRULY AMERICAN'S PATRIOT'S!!! YOU BELONG IN JAIL!! YOU SON OF BITCH!! WHILE YOU ARE CONSIDERING YOUR FUCKING DREAM ACT!! AND AMNESTY TO ALL ILLEGAL ALIEN'S!! WE AMERICAN'S ARE FUCKING SUFFER LIKE NEVER BEFORE!! BUT WHAT DO YOU CARE? YOU'RE NOT AMERICAN!! YOU SON OF BITCH!!

  • Logical? You have yet to say one thing logical. I'm still waiting for the debate part. I have yet to see you state one thing ,commons of anything else, that the rich use more and don't pay for by using more of it. If they use the raods more they buy more gas and pay for highway taxes built into the gas price. The use more electric, they pay more in energy taxes by using egergy more. Maybe you are just confused between INCOME tax as opposed to other taxes. All COMMONS have built-in taxes.

  • You appear to be losing patience and resorting to logical fallacies. Are we engaging in an honest debate or are we just name calling and making forecasts based on insufficient data? I never said I am in favor of "unfair" taxes. I said I think people who use the commons more should pay more.

  • Glad to hear it. So when Obozo decide you are making too much and he taxes your income at 55%, don't bitch becasue you clear have no problem with taxing the rich. Next they will tax the well off, then they will tax the upper middle, and just be happen when ti happens to you becauce you're all for unfair taxes related to income.

  • And then said "Again all wrong. Again ho do they use roads, bridges........". I resonded to you clarification of what "common" meant.

FYI, the meaning of "commons" only means roads, bridges, courts etc. to you.

  • You said: And by "commons" I'm guessing you're talking about consumer goods.

when I say "commons" I am not talking about consumer goods.

  • No my wife and I both worked our ass off to pay for college and now we have careers that we are working very hard in.

  • What? Did you miss my response to your stupid logic about road, bridges, courts, etc.?
