  • What's the difference between 3/4 and 6/8?? They both sound the same to me :(

  • @xheartshapebox Hi there, 6/8 has more of a swing to it compared to 3/4.Listen to the song from 'West Side Story'

  • @xheartshapebox They are almost the same, the difference is the number of beats per measure. In 3/4, there are three beats per measure and a quarter note gets one beat. In 6/8, there are 6 beats per measure and an eighth note gets one beat

    6/8 has more of a 4/4 feel to it. LIke a shuffle.

    3/4 has a distinct 3/4 feel to it. Like "Silent Night".

    Count 6/8 as 1 la-lee 2 la-lee 3 la-lee 4 la-lee 1 la-lee, etc...

    Count 3/4 as 1 and 2 and 3 and 1, etc...

    You should be able to feel the difference if you count it out loud.
