I have played this hymn before and for the intro I use a solo trumpet like a horizontal trumpet for the intro through the whole song.

Funeral tempo. No wonder congregations die!

you still did great even though you had the piston problems

As usual, I enjoyed your arrangement and your performance - thanks for sharing your GOD given talent - Lance †

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (January 24), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. I did so because our Sunday School lesson was from Matthew 11: 25-30.

@AllAmericanFE Lent is one of the most somber times in the church year. Everything is supposed to be low key. That is why, when I play, I keep it conservatiove.

Talking about a dumb congregation, I was in a church where the organist grew tired of people talking during the offertory. He was about 18yrs old at the time and had been playing for about four years. He played Star Wars and then had to leave by the back door when people commented on how beautiful the hymn sounded. He didn't do it again as he was satisfied with being vindicated for his complaints.

I agree and I hate during Lent how our priest will not let us use the trumpets. Its soo annoying when I cant use something loud enough to drown them out and force them to follow the notes/tempo I am playing.
Ive noticed on alot of you vids, you really like the trumpets/tubas/orchesteral trumpets. I love them to when i play the organ :)

It's not that I love them, as much as I think soloing the melody is important for a dumb congregation.

They're good, because congregations seem to have trouble carrying a melody.
haha
