Hi, I'm Stephanie. I'm signing this vlog for MNCDHH.

Recently, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division of MN shared an important warning. We want to let you know about a scam spreading through the D/HH community through email and text messages.

What exactly is the scam? A company called Awareness Company- Lottery for the Hearing Impaired is contacting people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Their messages say you, or a friend or family member, have won money.

Is that true? Have you won money? No, it's not. The Awareness Company's goal is to get money from you. How? They will tell you there's money waiting for you, but first you must pay taxes.
They say after you pay taxes, they'll give you money. True? No. They will not give you any money.

If you get a message that matches what I just described, report it to DHHS. Do not forward the emails and messages from Awareness Company - Lottery for the Hearing Impaired. Write a new, original email explaining what happened and send it to DHHS at Dhhs.metro@state.mn.us.

Thank you to DHHS for alerting the community about this scam.
