Mario Kart Wii - Jan 22 12 A

This will be the first Mario Kart Wii video I'll put up since Mario Kart 7 came out. Yes, I have Mario Kart 7, and I got it on the day of release. It is definitely an excellent Mario Kart title, though of course, there is that annoying Maka Wuhu glitch. (I personally don't do it myself, even if I wind up placing last. However, I hear it's a big wall to climb for those still working their way up, since apparently Maka Wuhu is ridiculously common among people with VRs between 2000 and 3000, so frequent that there is little hope of maintaining a stable VR, let alone increasing it, without doing the glitch yourself.)

You'll see some remnants of my getting used to Mario Kart 7 in this video.

Race #1
DS Desert Hills
Such as my messing up the turbo start, because Mario Kart 7's turbo timing is earlier than Mario Kart Wii's. And messing up the POW Block, as it's not present in Mario Kart 7. At least I got to get back on Mario Kart Wii in a course that gives a heavy advantage to people who are falling behind. Of course, I took the lead later on, and leads do not last on Desert Hills.

Race #2
SNES Mario Circuit 3
And I mess up the turbo start again. At least I remember this course well enough to know where to go. And that Blue Shells take away the lead player's items. (Also, I got a Fake item Box in this course. I miss this item. It's my favorite.)

Race #3
Moo Moo Meadows
Here, I remembered that the turbo start is later and I actually get it done right. Moo Moo Meadows is a pretty frantic course, but unlike Luigi Circuit, you don't really see these massive comebacks at the end.

Race #4
GBA Bowser Castle 3
Looks like things haven't changed in the time I was gone from this game: Bowser Castle 3 is still everywhere. At least this race was interesting enough for me to record. (Needless to say, I don't stay in 1st place through the whole thing.)

Not to beat a dead horse, but the Maka Wuhu glitch is so infuriating. If it is true that it is less common in the higher VRs, then I should really try to get mine up, but of course, that means I have to play with all the cheaters to do so. I've also noticed that on other courses, the people that choose Maka Wuhu tend to do badly (not always, but often) which just further shows that they can't win by playing fair.

@michkid251 Yeah, that's what I've noticed too. Competent Maka Wuhooligans are rare.

Nice. Maka Wuhu seems really annoying. Did you have to get used to playing with the Wii Wheel again? Or did you buy the wheel for the 3DS? And how much VR do you have in Mario Kart 7?

@Dzzy123 No, I did the normal controls because motion controls don't work too well in 3-D, and I always have the 3-D turned on. My VR is currently about 5500.

SNES Mario Circuit 3 is one of my best courses, but that's because it's so twisty and my main character is Koopa Trooper, who has one of the best miniturbos in the game. I don't like it as it's rather plain though.

God I hate that glitch. I've only done it once, and it was for Time Trial only just to see what it was. Then there are hackers on the Worldwide server. Ugh. And is it just me, or is it extremely tedious to hit 10000 VR? I'm getting very few VR points when I place first, and I'm at 1700 some right now. Still trying to build up coins just in case so I can get the Golden Glider and Kart. I've already got the tires thanks to my three star rank :) Kinda stink without the other parts though.

@dembonez19 Yeah, the issue here is with people who are trying to gain VR. It's a huge roadblock (no pun intended) if they don't know how the shortcut works, because currently, reports say that 60% to 80% of people whose VRs are between 2000 and 3000 are doing it, leaving the remaining players to pick up the last place finishes and losing VR rapidly in the process.

@shadowizcool I mentioned that the Fake Item Box is my favorite item in the description. I don't have a favorite character; I pick whoever I think people aren't going to pick much.
