@Kachureo62 I am not sure what you mean by a "bach-version of carmen. Bach didn't really specialise in seductive temptresses so it is a difficult comparison to make. If you mean that she is less gypsy like in her look and demeanour than say a Maria Ewing, then i might agree with you. Having said that, I don't think her interpretation was anything less than brilliant. Judging by the expressions on the faces of both Bryn and Claudio, they were well pleased.

Hinreissend ! Diese Frau ist ein Wunder, ein Wunder an Gesangskunst, an Präsenz, Ausstrahlung und - nicht zuletzt: das Aussehen, eine der schönsten Opernsängerinnen der Welt - zusammen vielleicht noch mit Cecilia Bartoli. Unschlagbar ist aber ihre Vielseitigkeit. Ich kenne keine Opernsängerin, die auch noch Jazz,Pop, Volksmusik und Musical so perfekt zu interpretieren weiß wie sie. Baronesse von Otter, sie sind wunderbar. I adore you !

What an immense artist! The voice, range, technique, versatility, charm, elegance, stage presence are extraordinary. I do believe she is the greatest mezzo-soprano on stage today. The magnificent Ewa Podles is a contralto really. Look at Anne Sophie von Otter, THEN refer to the vastly overrated, hysterically yodelling, vulgar Cecilia Bartoli.
