Hey, what you're doing in many ways is preferable to my life. $60K underwater mortgage, $420 / month car payments, bitchy girlfriend, credit card debt in the 5 figures, unstable job situation... I would give my left testicle to be out where you're at buddy. And you know what? I did all this to get with a girl way too hot for me.

When my first wife and I split I lived in a 3/4 ton truck (no cap) for 6 months. I managed to trade it for an old Monza stationwagon and ironically that was an upgrade! I had no job, no income and no hope. I also had just stopped drinking. Afetr a years and a half I finally got an insurance settlement (we were divorced, she got none of it). I bought a barely livable mobile home in a park and got my life back together.

@creativereinvestor yep a UPS po box.. it looked just like a real address. It did not have the PO in the address but an actual street address. Which was good when my car was about to be repossessed and they thought my address was at UPS.. I dodged them for a year and finally settled and I own my car fully now :)

@cleberinthearea actually this is David of /dchaverty. I've not been able to access /dchaverty for months. I actually did get a girlfriend who moved in with me from Dec-Feb. Google her. Her name is Angela Peel (1st season of American Idol) She is awesome. Didn't judge. She loved the adventure. We are still friends and she is still in LA pursuing her dreams. I got WiFi from my van right outside a home that did not have a password on the network. I did get a UPS Mail box and I did go out a ton.

@yamsack1 I would just move it to the other side of the street. I never moved it very far. If I had to cross town which was once.. I had my gf take me back to my car.

@gnosismonk didn't need it. It wasn't "air tight" and in LA it is always cool and nice outside. Never gets too hot.. well maybe for like a week but it is bearable. Those nights I might of opened a window.. maybe.

@MegaLinuxer check out my channel dvdvanity where I started a whole new channel just for living out of my car. The van lasted me 5 months and I still own it. I just lost my registration and never could afford to renew it so I ended up having to live out of my car for 5 months. Yeah so check out /dvdvanity

@dchaverty Hey that is really terrible man, I can sympathize with you though, I had a girl and I thought we were gonna get married but.....guess not, any way I plan on doing the same thing you are once my lease expires or I deem I need to bail which ever comes first...nothing to really hold on to any more I suppose. Well thanks foe the video.

A little of both. I was married & I moved out to give my wife space because she just wanted to end it. I was willing to work on our marriage so I moved into a van to avoid having to live on someone's couch during this emotional time in my life & I didn't want to get a lease somewhere when I was hoping to move back in wife my wife one day. I found out that my wife started dating my friend only 1 month after she ended us... so I stayed in the van and never made enough money to get an apartment..
