  • The priests have been singing the Eucharistic prayer since the 60's Latin mass till now. But it really depends on the priest on how motivated he is. As we know that there are old schooled and young ones, musically inclined and not, etc. Normally, what you see in your parish is what you are used to. I was in Rome and some priests sing it, too. St. Augustine said "when you sing you pray twice". It is a prayer that God will hear whether you sing it or not, whether you are Catholic or not.

  • I understand! Maybe, it is not for you. The first time I heard it, I had mixed feelings too. Do I have to learn another mass again and it is very long? But God wants obedience more than sacrifice, and a teacheable heart. So, I treated this as a challenge on my part. I even arranged it differently so it will be easy for me to follow. I know there are some out there, but I haven't heard anybody play this mass yet. The priest should also be musically able. Praise God for composer Marty Haugen.

  • Not Catholic.

  • 100% Catholic.

  • These severly old-fashioned comments remind me of an elderly woman to attended a Lutheran Liturgy I played for and she commented to the pastor as she left: "I will never come back to this church again because there were children involved in the worship-singing" What is with these fossil comments? YES! Modern musical worship in all aspects of the worship mass or liturgy! You progressive Catholics and Lutherans don't let these super ancient individuals bother your BEAUTIFUL WORSHIP!

  • Do all you dark-age Catholics actually think your going to draw young adult families and teen-agers to Mass with pure Latin, gregorian chant, no accompaniments? Better yet, why don't we get the priest to give his homily's in Latin also! THANK GOD FOR MARTY HAUGEN AND DAVID HAAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Abomination!" That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard! With all the horrible things in this world (McVee, Bin Laden, middle east kidnappings w/beheadings?) I suggest Weeping Stella and others who think like her reconsider good and evil! Instead of reading the council of trent etc read the psalms: Sing to the Lord a NEW song! Praise him with loud clanging symbols and string! Looks like the council of trent is contradicting the biblical psalms. Sing to God, BEAUTIFUL SUNG MASS

  • Beautiful.

  • @druss56 Self self self

  • This is an abomination. Anathema sit. Do you Novus Ordo so called "Catholics" truly believe that the Church started in 1969? What about all that happened before Vatican II? Do you purposely disregard the Council of Trent, or do you not know? Is Saint Pius V outdated? I suggest all you heretics read the Catechism of the Council of Trent.

  • isnt it wonderful that the word catholic means universal? god is bigger than us or this church so lets appreciate each other and remember that we are called by christ to be his body here in the world

  • Absolutely beautiful! I love it when someone can write music for the Holy Mass that is contemporary but manages to maintain the proper reverence for the Holy Sacrifice!

  • The Church should stick to its own music instead of venturing into other genres and doing them poorly. Let Andrew Lloyd Webber write "Mass: The Musical" - it will be 100 times better. Meanwhile, this Mass would be 100 times more reverent and heavenly with Gregorian chant.
