Here's a question for you. I play (poorly, indeed) a tenor recorder. I have issues with the distance among finger holes and with the spread of my hand. I wonder if a bass recorder, which have more keys of a tenor, could be easier for that. Do you know how is it your bass related to a tenor? Thanks. And, I'm loving to listen while I type.

On my bass, there's not as much of a spread as mine has 4 keys to cover the holes that would otherwise be a big stretch. Not every bass offers that luxury though (most of the models I've seen only have 2), so whether a bass is more or less of a stretch for you would depend on your hand size and the model of bass you wanted to pick up.

Having a good degree of dexterity in your fingers helps you reach everything too. Get in enough practice, and your hands will adapt over time.

Bass recorders are not particularly common instruments. Renting one will probably be nigh impossible, and if you intend to buy one you will have to ask an instrument store to specially order one for you. I got mine as a gift, so I didn't have to go through the hassle of finding it.

That appears to be a Woodnote bass recorder. bass recorders are made in the key of F.

i keep playing this video for two days. you play great. and i have a few questions please. unlike the C soprano or alto recorders, bass recorders are F right? so do you have to forget every finger position you got used to with a C recorder and start from all over? i mean are they completely different? or should i prefer a tenor recorder for a warmer sound than the soprano? Thank you in advance =) and again, this record is amazing.

@Jdr770 that's kinda what it is; at lest the top part. It is designed much like a whistle. Even so, the recorder is a lovely instrument. You may also like altos and tenners, they are lower then sopranos and higher then bass. (I believe)

Wow that's awesome I need to get a bass recorder sounds amazing. In my opinion I like the sound it makes a lot more than my soprano not so much like a whistle.
