@princegoutham Sivaji was great but he came late.We have to thank the Rajputs,Sikhs,Deccan sultanates(Raias of Vijaynagara for example) for saving Hinduism.If not for these people our religion would have lost.Regardless of Sivaji Hinduism would have survived,for the brits came immediately after him.

@princegoutham Well rulers need not be warriors,one man can't really fight much.Rulers have to be strategists.Besides Sivaji was very clever and got HUGE aid from the french to fight the brits.Wodeyars got no aid from anyone,they fought all alone.Bravery is for foot soldiers,leadership qualities are more important in leaders.Wodeyars had that.Royals were/are much better than many of our current day politicians,excluding a few such as Narasimha Rao,A.B.Vajpayee.Even Sivaji lost to the Afghans...

@princegoutham It was a common practice for Britishers after defeating to install local king to please people. If Tipu was in Wodeyars place he would have done the same. He in fact gave away Bangalore to British in 3rd mysore battle. He could have fought in that war itself and died instead of giving it away. So it is hard to judge who is patriotic and who is not. I actually don't like Gandhian way of freedom struggle itself. It is like emotional blackmailing and not a brave act ....
