I do modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating on the side and I know it takes skill and talent. But obviously we're in a day and age where things like that are easier to do. Realize that Flowers and Trees was made in 1932. Animation was still in its early years.

Don't deny that animation quality has gotten worse over the years.

Try modeling, texturing, rigging then animating a 3D character and then tell me if it takes any skill or talent to do something in CG.

I didn't see a reference to either a hippie or a stoner? Its called" imagination" its looked down to have one these days, or someone will make a drug reference to make them look stupid. Albert Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge....was he a hippie or a stoner?

TCM just showed the above cartoon (4/23/13) since it has been totally "restored": it was on a rapidly deteriorating film stock. Not that the above isn't lovely, but if you get a chance to see it now, the colors are spectacular, just like in the original.

I love the old Disney cartoons. They're hand drawn some are even hand painted! So much talent.

Cartoons were still relatively primitive at this juncture and didn't have any discernible human characteristics. When this cartoon came out there were no anthropomorphic animals coming to life and talking in cartoons.
