  • Hey "Twankiejones" Learn before you speak!!! It is an '89 SHO 3.0L Engine, not the new ones.

  • Hello everyone,

The engine is running at about 9,700 RPM. attikonmk is right. These engines were limited out at 7k due to accecories spinning apart around then but the engine will run 11K rpm with no load for hours. I have beat on this tractor for years now with no problems. I have never seen one of these engines break yet. I replace main bearings every 3 years with no problems. SHO Forever!!!

  • thats not an sho motor, the sho motor is 3.5 liters and twin turboed

  • Very cool use of anSHO motor...but I thought i would hear the secondaries with an open exhaust...guess not,huh...ah well still killer though...SHO4life!

  • @nosurrender22

It is true that the accessories cant spin more than 7K but also the torque curve starts falling after that. It would not be worth it to rev past 7200-7300rpm on the stock cams because you arent making power up there. What mods do you have on the tractor motor?

  • yep sounds like a yamaha to me i shoud

know i own one... sweet vid

  • @outbackautomotive I have a Fiero Caged with an SHO in it, check out my vid! :D

  • not pushing it hard enough?

    haha man people these days.

  • hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how are the valve cover gaskets holdin?

i owned two sho's and both had bad valve cover gaskets, common problem. but damn i miss em

  • thats what i've read, and i've read that they've got one there, but it was w/o any accessories probably just a motor on a dyno

  • Auto cuts out with 7600 RPM Stock ECU, Standard cuts out at 7800 RPM stock ECU.

I heard Yamaha Originally built these engines to do 12000 RPM @ 300HP!
