Running an old engine like this on compressed air is a bit like having someone on life support. Yeah, it's moving... but it's not the ideal situation! Put some veggie oil or biodiesel in the thing and fire it up!

I've heard of old diesels running slow, but this is absurd...

It's not running on compressed air it's being driven by an electric motor driving the flywheel via a rubber tyre. You can hear the motor and see the tyre mark on the flywheel rim.
