The Neutral Zone is used to develop individual skating skills and puck control in a variety of ways. Players may practice deliberate puck handling skills, fakes, lateral moves, toe drags as well as deceptive and evasive skating. This warm up uses small tires as obstacles to execute moves around shooting on a :ready" goalie on the whistle. They warm up the making eye contact with the ready goalie. Players keep moving and practicing pivots and turns reading the goaltender reading ready for the shot. Players may progress to shooting from alternate sides giving the goalie a chance to practice game like movement.
