@mattyccc2009 Instructors fly under the same conditions every day so they can do it in their head if they will be in balance or not. You always should atleast know for a fact you will be in CG and if there is ever a doubt do a W&B sheet. I can do them in less than a minute. Small price to pay for potentially saving your life.

as long as you arent cramming 3 extra people in the cabin and dont have full fuel, you should be able to deem if you are over gross or within CG range easily

ya why is the flaps down

first of all, this is not a C-172, it is a C-182.... If you look at the airplane from the rear, flaps seem to be fully extended.... in my opinion... lack of experience + poor weight & balance... sad to see this kind of news

It looks like to me that the pilot took off with his flaps down and he couldnt get altitude plus over load the plane, all the wrong things together ! That is really sad !

@bzubrod Easier said than done, look at flying instructors if they have 8 training flights a day it's impossible to sit down before each flight and do them. But in this case yes it should have been done...
