The Rio Grande set its own intermodal land speed records with the famous Rail Blazer piggy-back trains of the 1980s, here we follow one around the line at the California Southern Model Railroad Club's Fall open house on November 15, 2009.

  • That is all HO. The Loco's are recent Atlas GP40-2's and it looks like the intermodal cars are all Athearn Impac cars. The Railblazer more typically used 89' flush deck flat cars.

  • Very nice. I have those loco's too. Most of the Rail Blazers used 89' flush deck Trailer Train flat cars - would be nice to see shots including those. Atlas and Walthers now has TTWX out.
