This is classic Memphis television... A brief middle '90s excerpt from the long running TV show "THIS SUNDAY MORNING" by Greater Middle Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee. This clip shows the great American civil rights leader, Rev Ben Hooks, in service behind the pulpit at his beloved church, shortly before his retirement from full-time preaching.
For many years this hour long show was a traditional part of every Sunday morning for thousands of mid-south viewers. Here's your chance to catch a glimpse of that old time religion, Memphis-Style!
Ronnie Williams' organ playing can be heard throughout the service and, at one point, you can see him as Rev. Hooks comes by.
Ronnie was, and is, very involved with the music and ministry of this church. He also wrote and performed the theme song for this show.
