I will state it again. Tubescreamers are designed to push the front end of an amp.
Yes they also can tighten things up (though many would say that they kill the lows) and sweeten the highs but those are side effects. The original design was to give a tube amp that little extra.
I have a 70's 808. It is awesome, though I prefer my Cusak Screamer.
@ThieleM actually a ts808 will tighten up the low end and take away some harsh shrill tone while boosting mids and sustain. The chip in the pedal and resistors are what made the ts808 special. Its an overdrive pedal. But you can turn the gain all the way down and use it as a boost that still tightens the tone. I tried it with both solid state and tube amps and will make some vids on it. I got a direct recording tone with a Behringer TO800 and GDI21 and Alesis usb mixer that is GREAT.
@Xalodite that would be whenused comes in...lol...should pay attention they go for $100 new here and all day can find them for $50...but really if you dont have a good guitar still gonna sound like shit
