If you're a stylist or an owner please respect your customers. Please open up on time & adhere to appts. Please dont make customers have to wait for you to get to the salon, to finish talking on the phone to your friend, to finish eating your rib basket, etc. The worst part of black salons is this general lack of concern. Please do not smoke while you are doing hair or talk on the phone. If you are running a business treat it like a business & not like you're doing hair out of your kitchen. Thx!

Good luck with your salon. But please, please, please respect your clientele. People say they dont want to work for anyone else so they open their own hair salon & treat their customers like crap. Not opening up on time, not adhering to appointments, closing whenever they feel like it. I just want to say that when you work for yourself your customers become your boss. You give up one boss for dozens of bosses.There's no reason why anyone should have to spend all day in a salon for a touch-up!

@freedombraids Continue to keep your standards high. Use the best equipment you can afford, Keep your site modern and clean, let them know the rules of your salon or business in a professional way. When you do this you attract clientele that's use to being treated with class and they will in turn treat you with class. If they don't, you can respectfully decline their business. There are classy salons that have a certain amount of loyal customers and you have to hope for an apppointmnt with them!

@WhereYaBoss im loving what your saying, Im a stylist and before i was qualified i had no respect,clients wouldntt pay me, they would be hours late, bring boyfriends and they friends over etc i decided enough was enough and i set the standard high, now my clients actually arrive early and they all say thankyou for having them. Your 100% true, being a stylist is hard!

They spend billions on hair but not one website with instruction on how to raise and nurture successful sons! Do they really care? You decide people of the world!

i am a hairstylist too, and i was feeling the video until i saw the woman with the client talking on the cell phone. how unprofessional! why would you even put that online? why isn't your receptionist taking your calls? deplorable...

The point of this video was not to showcase beauty salon practices but to celebrate the beauty of black women's hair on the whole and the role that a beautician plays in building self esteem in their clients.
