Occasion unknown.
Ps. 149:1-3; Johann Gramann, verse 3 of "Nun lob, mein Seel, den Herren," 1530 (Wackernagel, I, #455) and interpolated aria by an unknown poet; Ps. 150:6.
Composed in Leipzig (1726-27)

"Sing ye the Lord a new refrain; the assembly of saints should be telling his praises. Israel joyful be in him who hath made him. Let Zion's children rejoice in him who is their mighty king; let them be praising his name's honor in dances; with timbrels and with psalt'ries unto him be playing".

@3NUNS I believe enough not to be presumptuous. I believe that Christ died for us, but I also know that if I say "okay, I believe, that's enough" and ignore Him otherwise, I am not liable to make it to heaven. So I keep fighting the good fight. Believing is only part of it.

Esta obra de Bach es Plenamente Maravillosa, sobre todo en el último fragmento de esta primera parte...., llena del amor de Dios que inspiro tanto a Bach para componer sus obras religiosas. Gracias por publicar este motete en esta excelsa versión
