Zoe Durkin, Histologic Science Program Director, explains the Histology program at Goodwin College. Histotechnicians process tissue biopsies removed during surgery. Tissue is cut into very thin slices, mounted on slides and stained with special dyes to make the cell details visible under the microscope. Goodwin's Histology program is one of only two in the northeast, and the only one of it's kind in Connecticut.

  • Looks like a great program. I am also studying Histology Technician as an Associates here in Rhode Island (CCRI). We have a great program, but we are not as lucky to have a nice histology lab in our school. We have to go to a hospital for our hands on training. It is a new program, so our school has not recognized it yet as an important funding source, but hopefully soon.

  • You probably should have explained (and showed) what a histology technician does better. It's hard for the average person to understand what it is.

  • YAY for me im studying histology !!!
